Dr. Heather Bauer

Dr. Bauer is originally from this area. She grew up in Dakota, Minnesota and graduated from La Crescent High School in 1996. She then attended the University of Wisconsin at River Falls for three years before she was accepted into The University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. She earned her Bachelor’s in Animal Science and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees while attending the University of Minnesota. The spring that she graduated, June, 2003, Dr. Bauer started working for West Salem Veterinary Clinic as a mixed animal practitioner.  WSVC is fortunate that she has been here sharing her knowledge, compassion, and skills ever since.  Dr. Bauer has recently turned her focus more toward companion animal medicine and surgery, and finds herself drawn to the elderly and infirmed patients. Dr. Bauer's compassion and patience surrounding senior wellness and maintaining an excellent quality of life during end-of-life care is profound.

Dr. Bauer has her hands full outside of work with a husband, two extra-curricularily-inclined daughters, an infant son, a cat named Gucci, a bearded dragon named Lizzie, a blind dog named Earl and a “normal” dog named Burton. Dr. Bauer also gardens in the summer and raises backyard chickens. She is a multi-tasker extraordinaire!
